Wind Caravan

Wind Caravan is an attempt to find out how we can live in harmony with nature and what is true happiness through artistic activities and cultural exchange with local people.

21 pieces of freestanding sculptures made with lightweight structure and sailcloth, which will interact with the wind. Easily assembled, they can be installed and dismantled under human power without damaging the surrounding environment. These Wind Caravan sculptures are exhibited at various exhibitions even today.
The crate, which contains the sculptures, fits inside a 20-foot container for transportation and, at each site, transforms into a small wind power station with four windmills and a generator. It functions as a landmark for Wind Caravan, and the produced electricity was used to illuminate the sculptures at night. And scientific observation of wind energy was conducted at the sites.
At each site, various activities, other cultural activities with local residents, especially children, Workshops, Symposiums, lectures and so on, were held.

The sculptures of Wind Caravan were exhibited with Genki-nobori at Genki Caravan Yuriage which was held in Yuriage, the stricken area of Tohoku Earthquake. And at some exhibitions, the traveling exhibition Susumu Shingu - SPACESHIP etc. / You'll be able to filter The installation of Wind Caravan sculptures on Chronicle page., these were exhibitited. Even now, many people are viewing them.
